That time is nearly upon once again. Our Turkey Shoot this year will be on Sunday 8th December from 1:30pm.

For those of you who have not yet attended a Turkey Shoot, don’t worry….. we don’t actually shoot Turkeys!
It’s just our name for a fun competition shoot followed by Christmas dinner afterwards at the Salutation Inn in Nettleton.

As with previous years, you are more than welcome to attend in fancy dress with a prize on the day for the one judged to be the best. For those of you who would like to raise a little money for the LLS charity pot by getting sponsored then click here for the sponsor form.

As just mentioned, the Christmas dinner will be at the Salutation Inn and we have the following 2x course menu choice for you to consider.

Mains

Traditional Roast Turkey with Bacon Roll, Chipolata, Stuffing, Bread Sauce & Cranberry Sauce
Homemade Steak & Ale Pie made with Lincolnshire Beef & Proper Pastry
Fish Medley in a Dill Sauce topped with Spinach & Melted Cheese
Homemade Lentil & Nut Loaf with Spicy Tomato Sauce

Puddings

Classic Christmas Pudding served with Brandy Custard
Crème Brulee with Cranberry & Port Jelly
Banana & Irish Cream Trifle

Coffee

The price for the meal is £16 each.

Unlike previous years, this year the club has to pay a deposit to secure places in addition to providing numbers and menu choices no later than December 1st.

With that, can I ask that you inform me ASAP whether you will attending the shoot and dinner afterwards, along with your menu choice and a £5 deposit for each person before the weekend of the 1st December. If you would like to pay the full amount of £16 at that time then I’m more than happy to accept the payment as it will make my life a little easier too.

Please let me know your thoughts/intentions by email, and in due course, your payments & choices etc. either by post to me at the address below or in a sealed envelope to any member of the committee or left for my attention with Ben/Mel at the shooting ground.

Please let me know if you would like to eat but have a special dietary need, and I’ll see what can done to accommodate you.

Please don’t forget that the £16 is just for the meal and the usual fees for the shoot will be payable on the day.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE !!!!!

PLEASE let me know your intentions whatever they may be. Even knowing who won’t be coming helps us!

Many thanks.

Public Liability Insurance

I'm pleased to announce that we now have a £2 million public liability insurance in force for the benefit of all members and their guests at all club events (not just shooting events).

***** Summer BBQ Sunday 19th August CANCELLED *****

The Summer BBQ scheduled for Sunday 19th August at Nettleton Lodge Shooting Ground has been cancelled due to the apparent lack of support from members. So few of you responded to the recent email from Les that the committee had no choice but to cancel the event when it met last night. Please try your best to attend your club events or at least respond to emails asking you for your intentions. Remember these events are for you, so without your support they simply wont happen.

We will look to arrange an alternative event (probably indoors) later in the year - watch this space.

We send emails to inform & remind you of up coming events, but we understand that some of you don't appear to receive them. Please remember though that we always try to keep this website up to date with scheduled events and notices, so please always check here too for the latest news!

21 February 2011 On Saturday morning (19th) ten guns braved the cold and wet to face Ben's latest tests.

Well done to Alan Johnson with a winning score of 78 and to Brian Shucksmith for taking the Handicap cup again with a score of 52 (+22 handicap).

By the end we were all very thankful that Allison and her trusty field kitchen was in full swing with the burgers and bacon baps. Saying thank you hardly seems to convey the appreciation we feel for the hard work that you do for us all especially on a day like it was.

The next shoot will be on Sunday April the 17th at 1.30 pm

9 February 2011 I will start with a belated happy New Year to all.

The first shoot of 2011 will take place on Saturday the 19th of February at 10am and will follow the usual format.

To all who braved the snow at the sponsored Turkey shoot well done! Between you the Charity's profited by the fantastic amount of £348.50 and along with the raffle etc. the day raised a total amount of £472.50.

So dig the spiders out of the gun barrels ready for the 19th.

12 December 2010 What a day, a crisp covering of snow and a blue sky 13 guns enjoyed a cracking turkey shoot. Ben, Will and Billy had set up a five stand shoot that was testing and teasing at the same time. Given the conditions they had to work under they came up trumps once again.

The shoot was won by Alan Johnson with 39 points, second was Norman Elliott with 38 points and third was Peter Hill with 37 points.

The fancy dress was won by the mad monk aka Brad.

Many thanks to the drivers of the 4x4's for getting every one to the field safely.

We then went to The Royal Oak at North Kelsey where our host Emma had prepared a excellent meal for us all to enjoy.

The score's for all without added handicap were as follows:

Adrian Lord - 26
Ivor Hallam - 24
Edd Zamo - 27
Alan Johnson - 39
Kevin Bradley - 24
Anne Cant - 25
Les Cant - 34
Craig Smith - 18
Norman Elliott - 38
Gary Holmes - 32
Peter Hill - 30
Ian Cumber - 35
Zamo - 21

Well that's all for 2010.
Merry Christmas and see you all in the New Year.

13 November 2010 There were 16 guns present at today's shoot, including 4 new member's that we wish a warm welcome to.

The weather was great with clear sunny conditions and not too cold. Ben had put on some tempting stand's some of which we had not seen before.

Alison did her usual great job with the BBQ and Anne provided a fruit loaf she made from a very old recipe. As usual, all the food appeared to get the thumbs up as there was none left.

Thanks to all.

23 October 2010 A fun evening was had by all who attended the Archery evening yesterday at Trackside Guns & Archery, North Kelsey Moor.

There was a good mix of ladies, gents and juniors with 21 shooters in all. It was a shaky start but everybody soon (kind of) got the hang of it and by the end of the evening most thought they were the new Robin Hood albeit that some thought Friar Tuck would be a far more suitable title.

After a training session the gauntlet was thrown down and the competition began. Thankfully the targets weren't moving so the competition was close and the arrows flew along with the barracking before the following immerged as the winners:

Adults: In joint first Brad & Peter with 155 points followed by Steve in third with 154 points.
Juniors: In first place Zoe with 112, second was Hannah with 96 and third went to Thomas with 72.

Well done to everyone and thanks to those who organised the event.
Click here to get the full results.

Best quotes of the evening:

Brad - 'Is that the right way up?' when referring to the way he was holding his bow.
Jenny - 'Where did that one go?' when wondering where the arrow that got away had gone.
Brian - 'Yessss 10!!!!!' in a loud voice when collecting his arrows.

In all, we raised £80 for charity which included a kind donation of £10 from Jed & Isabelle of Trackside.

I have put some photos in the gallery, but if you have more that you would like added please send to me via webmaster@lincolnlevelshots.co.uk.

25 September 2010 This years Dinner was successful although numbers were below the committees expectation with 36 + 2 guests from Air Ambulance enjoying the evening.

A cheque for £1680 was presented to our guests from The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, our chosen charity for 2009/2010.

On the night we made £185 from the raffle and £130 from the auction with a total of £388 profit going towards this years charity.

A big thanks to all those who attended and to all responsible for organising the event.

22 August 2010 The members of Lincoln Level Shots have the pleasure of sending a very big thank you to Sheila And Brian Shucksmith for the fantastic BBQ on August 15th. Every one that I have spoken to agrees that it was fantastic.
Thanks also to Gemma for the sugar flowers that she kindly donated they were wonderful and gave a big boost to the fund; and to the ladies who provided the sweets, Ivor's face was like a child in a sweet shop when he saw them but I do not think he managed to sample them all.
Thanks to Graham for adjudicating for the tower building which was won by Brian beating off all comers.
And finally thanks to Brad and his team for their hard work in the background setting up and then clearing up afterwards.

After all this work the vast amount of £714 was raised; a grand start to this years charity funds lets keep it up folks.
